Les Belles de Paris

Les Belles de Paris

Les Belles de Paris is a performative Showgirl company based in New York City. Under the umbrella of The Cabaret Burlesque, this elegant group of dancers will entertain and wow you with their Parisian technique, direct from abroad. Influenced by creative director Nathalie Marrable’s time as a performer and choreographer in France. The company is rooted in the preservation and reimagining of the classic Parisian showgirl tradition through an elite ensemble, Les Belles de Paris. Trained in a lineage passed down to her by mentors connected to the Moulin Rouge, Nathalie is interested in what happens when this highly codified form is removed from its traditional context and placed in contemporary performance. Her work explores the tension between discipline and spectacle, femininity and power, technique and artifice. She is interested in stripping the showgirl form down to its essential movement vocabulary and rebuilding it through ballet, contemporary dance, fashion, theatricality, and live performance. The work asks how a tradition often viewed as entertainment can become a space for experimentation and new artistic expression. WORKSHOPS Want to learn?
